Job Summary:
Nederman Shared Services is looking for an engaged and driven Assistant Controller to join our team located in Charlotte, NC. This position will report to the Corporate Controller. For the right candidate, this position can lead to opportunities and development within the Nederman group with offices throughout the world.
As an Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations to ensure financial compliance. This position will have responsibility for the Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivable, Sales Tax and Payroll departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable & Receivable Management:
Supervise and mentor the accounts payable and accounts receivable teams.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Monitor accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues.
US Sales Tax Compliance:
Supervise and mentor sales tax compliance team.
Oversee US sales tax calculations, filings, and payments in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and changes that impact the business.
Prepare and file sales tax returns, and manage correspondence with tax authorities.
Payroll Management:
Supervise and mentor payroll manager.
Oversee and ensure the accuracy of payroll processing, including deductions, benefits, and compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws.
Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve issues promptly.
Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure seamless payroll operations.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the finance function.
Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance financial operations.
Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with the Controller and other finance team members to achieve departmental goals.
Support external audits and internal control assessments.
Provide guidance and support to other departments on financial matters as needed.
Job Specifications:
Education/certifications required:
BS Degree in Accounting or Business required. Master’s preferred.
Experience required:
- 7-10 years of accounting management experience
- Experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment
- Experience working with multiple reporting entities under the same legal umbrella, intercompany transactions and reconciliations in preparation for audit.
- Project Accounting experience in construction or similar industries
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures including preparing month-end reporting and financial forecasts
- IFRS rules
- Sound Analytical and Research skills
- Be deadline and detail-oriented.
- Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems IFS10 is preferred
- Have excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to support all other departments within the company and coordinate cross functional projects and information sharing sessions.
- Be a self-starter who is motivated and has a desire to learn.
