Their outstanding craftsmanship is evident in steel structures and architectural features across a variety of sectors, including commercial, healthcare, and educational facilities throughout the region.
Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for the complete project life cycle, from contract execution to construction and closeout. This role involves leading high-performing teams and overseeing all aspects of the project, with a focus on scope, schedule, and cost. The Project Manager collaborates with general contractors, architects, and engineers to ensure compliance with accepted construction practices while fostering positive relationships throughout the process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee project scope, schedule, cost, and overall performance, including managing various plans such as project management, risk management, purchasing, production, and communication plans.
Understand and apply accepted business practices, including finance, accounting, and negotiation, and interpret contracts effectively.
Monitor and control project budgets and costs, ensuring a strong grasp of financial reports and accountability for monthly financial forecasts.
Develop and produce construction schedules that align with the overall project timeline, emphasizing timely completion.
Communicate effectively with team members across departments, clients, customers, and stakeholders through regular meetings.
Manage conflict resolution and change management as necessary.
Other Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; an Associate’s degree or relevant experience may be acceptable.
5-7+ years of experience in miscellaneous and/or structural steel.
Familiarity with AISC standards, AWS code, RCSC code, and generally accepted construction codes for steel erection.
Strong communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Tekla Structures.
Ability to reliably commute to the San Diego area to support construction projects at least once a week.
