Job Title: Litigation Legal Assistant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to our litigation team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a solid understanding of legal processes, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing and organizing legal documents, including pleadings, discovery materials, motions, and briefs.
- Maintain case files, both electronic and physical, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
- Coordinate and manage attorney calendars, including scheduling hearings, depositions, client meetings, and court appearances.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case law, statutes, regulations, and precedents.
- Prepare trial binders, exhibit lists, and organize evidence for court proceedings.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other involved parties to facilitate the flow of information and updates on case status.
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including letters, emails, and phone calls, with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of legal documents with state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Track case deadlines and ensure timely submission of required filings and documentation.
- Support attorneys with administrative tasks such as timekeeping, billing, and expense reporting.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree, paralegal certificate, or relevant legal experience.
- 2+ years of experience in litigation support or as a legal assistant.
- Strong understanding of litigation processes and court procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure with strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, attorneys, and court staff.
- High level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a law firm or legal department specializing in litigation.
- Knowledge of e-filing systems and electronic case management platforms.
