Regulatory Manager
A leading organization is seeking a Regulatory Manager to join its team based in Franklin Park, IL, reporting to the Senior Director of the Project Management Office. This role is responsible for implementing policies and procedures to ensure products meet all relevant laws, regulations, and standards. The Regulatory Manager will serve as the company’s representative with industry regulatory agencies, advocating on standards task groups, gathering input from stakeholders, and working to prevent unfavorable regulatory changes that could impact product compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local regulations that affect products, providing written updates at least quarterly.
- Offer compliance guidance to functional managers seeking direction on applicable standards.
- Participate in plumbing industry roundtables, standards writing committees, and task groups, including those related to ASSE 1001, ASSE 1002, ASSE 1037, ASME A112.16.1, ASME A112.19.2, ASME A112.19.5, ASME A112.19.14, and ASME A112.19.19. Submit original written reports assessing the impact and risks of committee activities on the company.
- Develop a formal process for creating company positions on code changes, obtaining consensus from internal stakeholders.
- Train other employees to participate in industry activities, ensuring continuity in compliance efforts.
- Provide support for field installation issues, including code violations, inspector notices, and "Made in the U.S.A." documentation.
- Create, maintain, and control revisions for a user-accessible FAQ library based on field support experiences.
- Ensure timely responses to compliance inquiries and develop metrics to monitor response effectiveness.
- Distribute a quarterly regulatory newsletter covering product and operational compliance, industry sustainability, FAQs, and upcoming regulatory events.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 4-6 years of experience on standards writing committees, including petitioning for clarification on compliance.
- Familiarity with ANSI accreditation and procedural steps for standards development.
- Strong aptitude for understanding technical readings, along with advanced verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to debate technical issues effectively.
- Ability to work as part of a team, build consensus among diverse members, and formulate company positions on regulatory standards.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with industry stakeholders driving regulatory changes.
