We are looking for a committed and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our educational team in Accomack, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. Your efforts will ensure that every student receives the individualized support necessary to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement IEPs: Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student.
Collaborate with Staff: Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to design inclusive instructional strategies.
Deliver Instruction: Plan and deliver engaging lessons that accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
Monitor Progress: Regularly assess and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
Advocate for Students: Ensure compliance with all special education laws and advocate for the needs of students and families.
Foster Inclusion: Cultivate a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, acceptance, and collaboration among all students.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
