Purpose: The psychiatrist will provide behavioral health care services to both children and adults in an integrated care center. May also provide supervision to psychiatrist nurse practitioner not yet qualified to practice solely.
Job Duties: - Responsible for providing outpatient care to patients showing a change or decline in mental status
- Work independently with other members of the medical or behavioral health team, with entitlements to specific clinical privileges approved by the clinic s Board of Directors
- Take part in an interdisciplinary team that provides primary care, dental and behavioral health care to employees and patients
- Perform patient histories and physicals, risk factor assessment, ordering of therapeutic and diagnostic tests; and attend to consultations and appointments
- Prescribe medications following the clinic s policy and relevant regulations of the State
- Consult with physicians on cases that are beyond the scope of qualification of other providers.
- Put all relevant patient data in medical records and case presentations
- Formulate, execute and review healthcare education delivered to patients and families for disease prevention
- Ensure smooth communication with other health professionals for effective delivery of clinic service to patients
- Provide consultation to the clinic s nursing and medical staff for improvement in holistically treating the whole patient, which enhances overall quality service delivery of the clinic
- Provide supervision to psychiatric nurse practitioners or students/interns as needed.
- Perform psychiatric evaluations required by outside organizations for various reasons (i.e. mental competency, employment, bariatric assessments, etc.).
Education/ Skills/Qualifications: - Medical degree, MD or DO is acceptable
- Registered in NYS to practice psychiatry
- Self-disciplined, energetic, passionate, innovative
- Five years ambulatory or public health experience is required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
- Leadership and organizational skills essential
- Bilingual especially in Spanish is preferred, but not required
- Computer literate preferred
- Demonstrate sound judgment, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of medical office practices, procedures and equipment
- Knowledge of problem-oriented record keeping
- Correct English usage, spelling and grammar
- Confidence to communicate and outreach to other community healthcare organizations and personnel
- Knowledge of community resources
- Must possess nurse practitioner registration in NYS, which must be unrestricted, current, complete, and active

Salary Range: $210,000-$280,000
