Apex Systems is partnering with our client, an innovative manufacturing company, in Ladson, SC. We are looking for a CAD Drafter with expertise in SolidWorks. It will be a 6 month contract-to-hire, meaning it will convert permanent after the initial contract duration. They are looking for people to start ASAP, with reasonable accommodation for notice given.
SUMMARY
Utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates computer-aided design (CAD) system, nesting program (TruTops), and peripheral equipment to create electronic data for CNC machinery and Machinists to process job orders.
- Maintain production drawings of the client's customers and layout assemblies systems to meet customer expectations for quality, cost, design and delivery by performing the following duties:
- Develop designs utilizing 3D modeling software (SolidWorks).
- Generate production drawings to be used on the manufacturing floor.
- Review and revise drawings for production.
- Review customer requirements and incorporate into design details.
- Communicate with customers and vendors to ensure that designed products can be made from specified materials and will meet customer needs.
- Suggest alterations or modifications of design to obtain specified functional and operational performance.
- Support production team with necessary documents and changes in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a good understanding of CAD system and the capabilities to quickly learn the client's preferred software. Minimum of two years of CAD experience.
- Minimum of two years of Drafting experience, which preferably includes the following: SolidWorks or Inventor is a plus.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances.
- Have working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
EDUCATION
- Associate degree from a two-year college or university preferably in Engineering; and/or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers community. publication.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management.
REASONING ABILITY
- Requires analytical knowledge; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
