American Track is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Safety Specialist to join our team! This position will partner with operational, safety and HR leaders to provide support and guidance to ensure health and safety are met. This includes aiding and instruction to all levels of management, safety personnel and employees in their efforts to reduce the frequency and severity of personal injuries, motor vehicle accidents, property damage losses and environmental releases. A successful candidate must be friendly, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
- Supports delivery of training, new hire onboarding, and local compliance training programs.
- Assists, implements, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on premises or at project site locations.
- Provides project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirms project site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
- Serves as a support liaison between employees and management to improve local retention efforts.
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety
- Participates in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence.
- Maintains safety files and records
- Able to travel as needed and have a valid driver’s license.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education Required:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred.
Work Experience Required:
- 3+ years of experience in safety management
- Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations
- OSHA/MSHA trainer certifications, a plus
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Ability to travel, up to 30%
- Physical ability to stand; walk; sit; use hands; talk or hear; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; ability to use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus.
