Who We Are - Geropsyche:
GPU is our 29-bed Geropsychiatric Unit specializing in the care of patients ages 65+ with co-occurring cognitive impairment and psychiatric illness.
Who We Are - Fitch:
The Fitch unit is a 45 bed, Acute Care Medical Unit, with approximately 120 employees. The average patient census is 40 patients and specialties focusing on sepsis, respiratory, diabetes, GI, oncology, end of life, and some surgical. The Fitch unit provides an outstanding supportive environment and advanced training for its staff. The unit also offers a relaxation room for its employees to decompress and relief stress. The nursing staff is supported by a charge RN and team lead, whose focus is to make this the best place to give and receive care. Many years ago, our staff came up with our unit's own mission and vision. The mission is "Everyone Helps Everyone" and the vision is "Teamwork Makes the Dream Work". Our staff is very involved with quality, improving workflows, and providing input for meaningful change. About the Job:
The GPU RN delivers care for patients with psychiatric conditions based on the physical ability, intellectual development, psychosocial, education and safety needs of the geriatric patient. This role works closely with a multidisciplinary treatment team model within a collaborative and supportive environment. Practices in a manner consistent with the Elliot Hospital Interprofessional Practice model; the ANA's Social Policy Statement, Scope and Standards of Practice, and the Nursing Code of Ethics; and relevant specialty standards of practice.
What You'll Do:
- Provide care to patients with complex psychiatric and medical needs
- Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families
- Embraces and promotes change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment.
- Involves patient/family in goal setting and planning, and communicates that plan of care to patient and family for input; and to colleagues to ensure seamless care across shifts and settings.
- Utilizes current evidence and relevant national/specialty standards to guide practice and/or performance and identifies areas for improvement.
- Demonstrates competent clinical practice utilizing clinical decision making and critical thinking skills.
Who You Are:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ASN or BSN - BSN preferred)
- Current New Hampshire, compact, or multistate licensure as Registered Nurse required
- Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment - ACLS preferred
- Aggression de-escalation training approved by EHS

7:00am - 7:30pm or 7:00pm - 7:30am - Days or Nights - EOW
