Job Summary
Highly responsible position involves planning, organizing and directing a county-wide meal delivery program for senior
citizens of Jefferson County. Directs and manages administrative functions of the program to include planning, program
development, implementation and operations of all services provided by MOW. Follows guidance and direction from the
UWAAA Nutrition Program related to nutrition standards.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates activities of the MOW Program.
- Responsible for the development of MOW including agency outreach, volunteer recruitment, identifying fundraising opportunities and raising community awareness
- Works with marketing and communications to develop annual marketing plan and oversees the implementation of the plan
- Serves as media representative, speaking on camera to promote program and service opportunities
- Ensures staff are appropriately trained to meet federal nutrition standards in meal service, programming and reporting
- Compiles and submits reports required by UWAAA and department, timely and accurately
- Monitors program and evaluates outcomes to ensure efficiency of services and accuracy of data/reports
- Manages numerous grants and funding sources, including budgets, data analysis, and reporting requirements
- Oversees volunteer management and routing of homebound meals for Senior Centers coordinated with UWAAA nutrition staff
- Participates in Community Initiatives Continuous Quality Improvement Plan
- Works collaboratively with UWCA departments, programs and staff
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills
Extensive knowledge of local, State and Federal legislation and programs related to the work of the Area Agency on Aging to include the Older American’s Act as Amended preferred
Knowledge of health and nutrition needs of older adults preferred
Working knowledge of food service management preferred. Will be required to be Serve Safe Certified.
Excellent organizational, leadership, and public speaking skills
Strong computer, and database skills and ability to learn new programs
Education/Experience
Master’s Degree in social service related field (MPA, MSW, MBA, etc.) preferred
Minimum of 7-10 years of administrative, supervisory and case management experience preferred
Requirements:
Valid Alabama driver’s license
Reliable transportation
Proof of automobile insurance commensurate with State law
Background checks to include but not limited to criminal record, drug screen, and TB test
Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to be insured by UWCA’s insurance
Normal office environment with occasional afterhours work and travel throughout the state
