Role:
As Director of Finance & Accounting, you will be instrumental in steering the financial structure and direction of our binational operations, with particular emphasis on our manufacturing operations in Mexico under the IMMEX/Maquiladora program and our development activities in the United States. This role requires deep understanding of cross-border manufacturing, international trade, and complex financial structures spanning both countries. Your expertise will be crucial in overseeing the financial operations and reporting related to our unique business model, which includes manufacturing of prefabricated modular units, real estate development, construction (including development or construction financing), and property management.
The Opportunity
This is not your typical finance role – we're looking for a builder, not a maintainer. As our Director of Finance, you will have the unique opportunity to architect and implement our entire financial infrastructure across both US and Mexican operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on financial leader who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, working directly with operations, and building scalable processes from the ground up.

You will also support coordinating with department leaders related to the company’s manufacturing efforts, sourcing, procurement, budgeting, forecasting, and implementing the financial procedures related to the company’s ongoing efforts. The candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements pursuant to company preferred accounting principles, prepare accurate and timely reports, and implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures. The position plays an important role in the coordination and maintenance of relationships with vendors, suppliers, insurance companies, banks, worker compensation carrier and the like. The position may have additional duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
1) Financial Strategy and Leadership: Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company's goals. Develop the accounting and finance team/department. Provide leadership and direction to the finance team, ensuring high performance and efficiency. Provide creative solutions and problem solving.

2) Manufacturing Financial Oversight: Oversee the financial aspects of manufacturing operations, including cost accounting, inventory management, and the integration and implementation of ERP systems to optimize manufacturing efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Assisting in the company’s expansion of its current manufacturing operations into a larger new facility (setting up and implementing procedures).
- Oversee financial aspects of IMMEX/Maquiladora operations
- Manage/Assess transfer pricing strategies and compliance
- Implement cost accounting systems that align with both US and Mexican requirements
- Direct international supply chain financial operations
- Optimize working capital across border operations
- Manage currency risk and international cash management
- Oversee implementation of ERP systems that integrate US-Mexico operations
3) Real Estate and Construction Finance: Manage financial planning and analysis for real estate development and construction projects. This includes budgeting, forecasting, and securing financing for construction projects, as well as analyzing project feasibility and ROI.

4) Property Management Finance: Oversee the financial operations related to property management, including rental income, operating expenses, and profitability analysis.
5) Financial Reporting and Compliance: Ensure the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with preferred accounting principles. Maintain robust internal controls and compliance with financial regulations.

6) Stakeholder Relations: Maintain and enhance relationships with external partners such as vendors, suppliers, banks, insurance companies, and regulatory bodies. Negotiate contracts and manage financial negotiations.
7) Risk Management: Identify and manage financial risks, including those related to manufacturing, real estate development, and property management.
8) Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
· Creative. Problem Solver. Able to work in a startup business and implement /develop SOPs.
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
· Strong understanding of ERP systems in manufacturing.
· Advanced proficiency in financial systems and tools
- Minimum 5 years experience with Mexico manufacturing operations
Experience in a senior financial role, ideally in a start-up or fast-paced environment. . (Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role)
· Accomplished finance and accounting executive, with a strong emphasis leading and directing accounting operations focused on manufacturing.
· Knowledge of construction finance, real estate development, and property management.
· Thorough understanding of cost accounting, especially as related to manufacturing (GAAP, tax laws, and regulations), budget planning/forecasting.
· Skilled in the establishment of accounting and financial management policies, process improvement/automation controls as well as implementing internal controls to optimize management of accounting and reporting.
· Adept at steering accounting processes, procedures and reporting across a vertically integrated corporate structure with the capacity to scale infrastructure.
- Yardi/Real Page/PMS experience is a plus.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred, but not necessarily required.
