Reliability & Maintenance Lead - EI & A
Role Overview:
- Core Responsibilities: The Reliability & Maintenance Lead – EI & A, will be instrumental in leading the EI & A Reliability and Maintenance Team for a new production facility. This includes building the team and engaging during the Engineering and Construction phases of the capital project to ensure that the facility is designed and built for safe and reliable operations and maintenance with respect to electrical, instrumentation and automation. This role will also oversee quality of all installations during the construction phase of the project and own the commissioning of EI & A systems, play a critical part in the ramp-up stage, leading up to the steady-state operations of the facility.
- Collaboration: The role requires close collaboration with leadership at all levels and with functions both within the site as well as with technical experts in Chief Technical Office and R&D.
- Safety and Quality: Candidates must always demonstrate the ability to lead and to uphold safety and reliability policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards that ensure safe, reliable operations and delivery of the desired product quality.
This candidate will initially report to the Project Lead and will later report to Plant Operations Lead.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education & Experience: A Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering or a related field is preferred, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Reliability & Maintenance. Experience in the steel industry is preferred, with experience specifically in steel finishing processes as a strong advantage. Experience as a People Leader role is an additional benefit to qualifications.
- Responsibilities, Skills & Knowledge: The candidate should have a proven track record of leading and managing the EI & A function in a Steel Process Industry or an equivalent Heavy Industry. Specific job functions are as follows.
- Provide leadership, expertise, and direction in the implementation of Maintenance and Reliability strategies for EI&A function across the manufacturing facility. Use technical knowledge, equipment documentation, and safety procedures to develop and implement methods and procedures to eliminate maintenance problems and improve product quality.
- Responsible for development and execution of commissioning plan related to EI & A functions, working closely with project team, OEM equipment providers and other vendors during the project phase. Subsequently responsible for leading multiple improvement programs and projects across the maintenance and reliability functions during the operational steady state.
- Provide technical expertise and support the project team in the decision-making process with a ‘Total Cost of Ownership’ approach. Define appropriate preventive and predictive maintenance programs to establish maintenance planning processes.
- Responsible for providing leadership, direction, and assistance in conducting analysis of system maintainability and reliability studies of equipment. Develop and utilize appropriate surveillance and feedback systems to generate and evaluate data.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis of systems and sub-systems within a manufacturing environment to solve problems and make improvements to reliability.
- Conduct field analysis of operations, investigations, evaluation, and reviews and provide feedback to appropriate functional groups including executive staff.
- Measure key KPI’s, including operational delays, and lead activities for problem-solving and continuous improvement studies.
- Coordinate a team of EI & A technicians to perform repairs and preventive maintenance, assisting team members in diagnosing EI & A malfunctions in machinery and equipment, including safety compliance and team scheduling.
- Translate technical specifications, blueprints, and job orders for understanding of team members to complete assigned duties.
- Manage and supervise contractors and vendors to ensure safety and quality of work.
- Develop monthly progress reports for Reliability & Maintenance under the area of responsibility and perform administrative activities, including the completion of periodic reports.
