Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with at least ten years of experience for their DC Metro office. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the business development team and other discipline leads to develop technical proposals and play an active role in marketing and business development. This position offers the opportunity to help grow and mentor a team of engineering professionals in a collaborative, multidisciplinary office environment. The role also involves direct interaction with clients, providing consulting services.
The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering a variety of projects involving HVAC and plumbing systems, as well as coordinating complex, multi-disciplinary projects. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration (required).
Experience in:
- Designing HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Managing and designing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Leading design teams.
- Managing project budgets and schedules.
- Proficiency with Load Calculation Software.
- Experience with REVIT and CAD.
- Developing fee and qualification-based proposals.
- Familiarity with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and industry relationships (a plus).
- Active involvement in local industry (a plus).
- Familiarity with mechanical, energy, and plumbing codes, ensuring design compliance with applicable standards.
- Ability to read and prepare project drawings, including ductwork plans, piping plans, sections, isometric piping drawings, and bills of materials.
- Performing HVAC calculations and analysis using industry-standard programs.
- Energy modeling experience (a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to lead interdisciplinary projects and teams.
- Willingness to travel periodically.
