Messner Reeves LLP, a full-service business law firm, with 10 offices nationwide, seeks an experienced Patent Attorney at our Phoenix Office.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in intellectual property law, with expertise in patent prosecution, portfolio management, and litigation. As a Patent Attorney, you will work closely with inventors, engineers, and clients to secure patent protection for innovative technologies and provide strategic guidance on intellectual property matters. Responsibilities:
- Draft and prosecute patent applications before the relevant patent offices.
- Prepare detailed description of inventions and draft patent claims to define the scope of protection.
- Manage patent prosecution timelines and deadlines to ensure timely filings and responses.

- Develop and implement strategies for building and managing patent portfolios.
- Monitor exciting patents and coordinate renewal and maintenance activities.
- Represent clients in patent disputes, infringement litigation, and oppositions proceedings.
- Prepare legal arguments, motions, and briefs for court or administrative proceedings.
- Communicate complex legal and technical information clearly and effectively to clients and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing patent law, with a focus on patent prosecution and portfolio management.
- Strong technical background in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, or life sciences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal and technical concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with a collaborative mindset and ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Admitted to practice in the state of Arizona (required).
