Job Summary:
The Project Manager in Building Automation will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of building automation projects from initiation to completion. The role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of building automation systems, including HVAC, lighting, and security controls. The Project Manager will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the client's quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure project milestones are met.
- Manage the project lifecycle, including scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
- Client Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project.
- Regularly update clients on project status, manage expectations, and address any concerns or changes.
- Ensure client satisfaction by delivering high-quality results and maintaining strong relationships.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance to team members.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to manage risks.
- Address any issues or obstacles that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure that all project deliverables meet industry standards and client requirements.
- Conduct regular quality checks and audits throughout the project.
- Implement corrective actions when necessary to maintain project quality.
- Budget Management:
- Monitor project budgets and control costs to ensure projects are completed within financial parameters.
- Approve expenditures and manage resource allocation.
- Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports.
- Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and clients.
- Ensure all project documentation is archived appropriately upon project completion.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols on all job sites.
- Coordinate inspections and obtain necessary permits.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (PMP, LEED, etc.) are a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in building automation or related industries.
- Proven track record of managing complex projects from inception to completion.
- Experience working with building automation systems, including HVAC, lighting, and security controls.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of building automation systems and their integration.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on client satisfaction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management.
- Certifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- LEED certification or other relevant industry certifications are advantageous.
Work Environment:
Primarily office-based with frequent visits to construction sites. Ability to travel to various project locations as required. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
