Project Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Senior Software Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in mainframe development and be proficient in various programming languages and tools associated with mainframe systems. The role involves working independently to develop, enhance, and maintain critical systems, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth execution of complex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, and maintain mainframe applications using TELON, EASYTRIEVE, and PANVALET/TSO.
- Design and write online screens using MVS/IMS.
- Program and maintain batch MVS/IMS systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Perform testing and debugging using tools such as Debugger or XPEDITOR to ensure code quality and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to gather and understand project requirements, providing technical insights and expertise.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership of project deliverables and timelines.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for all developed or modified systems, ensuring clarity for future reference and system upgrades.
- Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and management to ensure smooth project execution.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Mainframe development.
Proficiency in:
- TELON development.
- EASYTRIEVE for report generation and data processing.
- PANVALET/TSO for program management and editing.
- MVS/IMS programming with at least 5 years of experience in both online screen and batch programming.
- Testing and debugging using tools like Debugger or XPEDITOR.
- Strong experience working in mainframe environments (MVS/IMS).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with tools such as MS Word and other Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with large-scale mainframe systems.
- Knowledge of additional mainframe tools and technologies.
- Experience in mentoring junior developers.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
