Continuous Improvement Manager

Company Overview:
Sulzer Turbo Services (STS) is an independent provider of services and repairs of critical turbomachinery. We specialize in the repair, overhaul, and replacement of parts for high-speed rotating equipment such as steam and gas turbines, compressors, expanders, and other industrial rotating equipment found primarily in the Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Petrochemical, Ammonia, Nitric Acid, Fertilizer and Power Generation markets.
Position Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Manager oversees daily continuous improvement initiatives for the La Porte operation. They partner with operations staff and oversee training to help develop Lean champions and a continuously improving culture. This role also is involved in weekly planning and oversight for 5S events through the facility and operations, and leading safe initiatives to promote a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for weekly 5S projects (minimum 1 per GM group).
Responsible for monthly training and development of critical lean principles with existing local staff. (minimum 1).
Ensure that Sulzer continually refines, streamlines, and optimizes its work processes for the best repairs and the highest obtainable quality.
Interface with other Division Superintendents and Management to ensure an optimum
working relationship with the Divisions
Perform any projects, tasks or duties as directed by STS Senior Management
Shift:
Work hours are typically 7:00am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday; however, the Continuous Improvement Manager is expected to be available after hours and on weekends when required.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Extensive hands-on shop and/or manufacturing experience
- Technical knowledge of turbo machinery repair
- 5+ years of management/supervisory/Lean 5S experience
