We have a vacancy for a junior legal counsel position for the right candidate that would be able to assist in the Americas with effective legal and compliance expertise. Corporate office in Baytown, TX.
Duties
The Junior Legal Counsel will be responsible for legal, compliance, insurance and secretariat matters for the US business as well as provide legal advice to other companies located in the Americas. The role reports to the Managing Director as well as the Group Chief Legal counsel based in Zug, Switzerland. The role requires close interaction with commercial, HR and operational staff in the US and group legal staff based globally. Duties will include:
• Coordination of all day-to-day legal, compliance, insurance and secretariat activities.
• Transactional legal support and contractual review, negotiation, and drafting.
• Litigation legal support and working with internal staff and external counsel as appropriate.
• Coordination of compliance policies and procedures in accordance with external, and company requirements
Potential candidates should possess the following attributes:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, fluency in English required and fluency in Spanish desired.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within agreed upon timeframes.
• Self-motivated; able to work both independently to complete tasks and to respond to department requests.
• Attention to detail in the preparation and review of contracts and agreements; excellent legal drafting skills.
• Strong computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word.
• Juris Doctor or equivalent legal degree and an active license to practice in the U.S. or foreign country.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant legal experience required.
• Experience in the logistics/maritime/warehousing industry desired.
• Authority to work in the United States without any sponsorship by the Company.
