Summary:
The Claims Advocate will employ their technical skills to manage complex workers' compensation claims to produce the most favorable outcomes through investigation and analyzation of the work-related event. This position requires knowledge, application, and understanding of workers' compensation laws, statues, and regulations for the assigned jurisdictions. Possess the ability to collaborate and build relationships with management, human resources, defense counsel, and third-party interests to utilize as a resource and support system through the totality of the claims handling process.
Requirements:
- Must possess 5-6 years of experience working with complex, lost time, and litigation workers' compensation files.
- Claims management experience 3+ years of experience.
- Proficient in calculating indemnity payments to ensure payments are issued in a timely manner.
- Handle multiple jurisdictions and acquire an understanding of how to apply the workers' compensation laws.
- Possess excellent verbal and communication skills when collaborating with internal and external parties.
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills to assess the validity of the claim in its totality.
- Maintain and use discretion when handling sensitive information in your possession.
- Works well under pressure and can assist in stressful events.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in utilizing computer software and applications to track progress of each file.
