The Role: Automotive Body Electronics Design Engineer – Hybrid Schedule
Are you an experienced engineer looking for a dynamic role in automotive electronics? We are seeking a highly collaborative Body Electronics Design Engineer to join our Vehicle Development team. In this role, you will work on the design, development, and application of Body Electronics (including Body ECU, AC ECU, etc.) that meet customer needs, regulatory requirements, and market trends. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this position will contribute to creating a center of excellence for vehicle electronics development.
Location: Saline, MI– Hybrid schedule (Tues, Wed, Thurs onsite; Mon/Fri remote).
Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote). Must be flexible to work all five days onsite if necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Body Electronics Development: Lead the design and application of Body Electronics systems, including Body ECUs and AC ECUs, balancing performance, cost, and customer needs.
- System Design & Integration: Plan, structure, and design electronics systems, ensuring they meet both style and functional feasibility while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
- Supplier Management: Issue design specifications to suppliers, manage schedules, and oversee performance and quality of supplied parts.
- Documentation Management: Maintain part lists and issue internal design documents, including engineering change instructions and wiring specifications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various teams to ensure system requirements align with customer needs, market trends, and performance targets.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years as an Electrical Design Engineer, with experience in vehicle electronics development.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Body Electronics systems, ECU design, and integration.
- Problem-Solving & Communication Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively across departments.
- Work Availability: Must be able to work up to 30% overtime as needed.
Bonus Skills
- Vehicle Electronics Expertise: Previous experience in vehicle electronics development, with hands-on experience using CATIA.
- Cross-Functional Experience: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple departments and suppliers to meet project goals.
