Data Engineer
Position Summary:
Insight Global is looking for a Secret Cleared Data Engineer to join a team that identifies, develops, manages, and analyzes data (geospatial, force structure, and system characteristic), digital applications, and policy to support virtual, constructive, and gaming simulation-enabled Joint and Combatant Command training.This Data Engineer position will assist in improving the processes in which data is collected, managed, and converted for the purposes of the Joint Forces.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Curation of data from various authoritative sources into schemas and formats that can be consumed by applications of the DDJT’s Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE).
- Assist in the development of Data Pipelines for data cleaning, transformation, and aggregation.
- Reduce amount of manual touch labor required to transform data into useable formats by enhancing data quality and efficiency.
- Assist in management of DDJT’s data and analytics operations including architecture, user requirements, software development, report development, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) integration.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to data engineering and 2-4 years of experience OR a Master’s degree with 0-2 years of experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 8 years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Interest in data and data analytics.
- Experience with MS Excel functions for data analysis.
- Experience with SQL for data queries.
- Knowledge or interest in Data Dashboards (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, etc.).
- Knowledge of scripting (Python).
- Knowledge of database/technology/processes (PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, ETL, noSQL databases, etc.).
- Experience with curation of force structure, terrain, and system characteristic data for use in DoD Modeling & Simulation (M&S) training applications is a plus.
- Knowledge of JS J7’s Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) federation is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Joint training exercise planning, design, execution, and assessment process (JELC – Joint Exercise Life Cycle) is a plus.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence is a plus.
- Ability to communicate in person, over virtual platforms, and in writing with teammates, technical Subject Matter Experts (SME), and senior leaders.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- On-site support required (Must Interface with customers on a daily basis).
- Must be able to obtain a SECRET clearance.
Salary: $85,000-$100,000
