Sr. Director of Sheet Metal Operations

Pay: $130,000 - $170,000, 15% AIP Bonus
Schedule: Full-time, On-site
Travel: 0-20% to job sites or office locations

Wheeler Staffing Partners is assisting our client in their search for a Sr. Director of Sheet Metal Operations. This role involves overseeing the planning, execution, and financial activities of the sheet metal operations across multiple regions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in leading sheet metal operations for large-scale commercial construction projects such as hospitals, college campuses, hotels, and high-rise buildings, and will possess a "roll up the sleeves" mentality to inspire and lead their team effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and guide sheet metal operations across different regions, working closely with the Fabrication Director.
- Ensure project costs, quality standards, and delivery deadlines are consistently met.
- Maintain accurate manpower forecasts and ensure comprehensive estimates for materials and labor.
- Serve as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and training opportunities for regional sheet metal staff.
- Develop and lead best practices across all projects, focusing on scheduling, inventory management, and quality control.
- Manage and evaluate the performance of direct reports.
- Foster a culture of safety and proactive injury prevention.
- Collaborate with the fabrication shop for timely project completion.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of industry experience in sheet metal construction operations management.
- Proven experience leading sheet metal projects valued over $10M.
- Demonstrated leadership in senior roles with multiple direct reports.
- Strategic thinker with strong operational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with industry standards and competitors.
- Flexibility to take on tasks beyond the defined scope when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in progressively senior roles within a mechanical contractor firm, advancing from roles like Sheet Metal Superintendent to Sheet Metal Operations Manager and beyond.
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience in sheet metal.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of desk work, computer use, and occasional physical activity such as climbing stairs and lifting objects up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to remain in stationary positions and perform repetitive motions as needed.
