Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced MSHA Certified Field Safety Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting a safe work environment at mining and construction sites by implementing safety programs, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with MSHA regulations. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety and minimizing risks to personnel and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Implementation: Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and policies in accordance with MSHA regulations and company standards.
- Site Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of job sites to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Training: Provide training and guidance to employees on safety practices, hazard recognition, and emergency response procedures. Maintain records of training activities.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and near misses, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent future incidents.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all operations comply with MSHA regulations and company safety policies, keeping up to date with changes in regulations.
- Safety Audits: Perform safety audits and risk assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and identify areas for improvement.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between management and field personnel regarding safety issues, promoting a culture of safety and awareness.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training, preparing reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring all personnel are familiar with procedures and evacuation routes.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in occupational safety and health or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety role within the mining or heavy construction industry, with a focus on MSHA regulations.
- Certification: Valid MSHA certification is required; additional safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid/CPR) are a plus.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety regulations, hazard identification, and risk management practices.
- Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess risks and develop effective solutions.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various weather conditions and navigate construction and mining sites.
