Job Title: Distribution Engineering Technician
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Duration: 1 year (most likely do go direct after 1 year)
Pay Range: $25/hr. plus OT
Target start date: ASAP
Work Schedule: 40 hours a week plus some OT
SUMMARY:
- Carries out various analytical tasks connected to the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical power distribution systems. Projects involve designing distribution facilities for residential, commercial, and small industrial customers, relocating existing distribution facilities, and improving distribution systems through minor expansions, conversions, and rebuilds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare work orders, job sketches, material lists, and cost estimates; update the GIS system for new jobs, property damage, and facility corrections using field information and data from other sources.
- Apply Engineering Guides, Construction Standards, the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), NBIC, and ASME.
- Support emergency restoration efforts.
- Respond to inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders on project-related information.
- Complete tasks using standardized processes.
- Operate under direct supervision.
- Resolve questions and issues within set standards and guidelines.
- Adhere to established procedures to fulfill job requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Understanding of essential concepts, practices, and procedures within the specific field of expertise.

- Familiarity with Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, leadership, and customers.
- Organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency in mathematics.
- Computer proficiency with software applications, including ArcFM Designer, SAP, and the MS Office Suite.
- Willingness and motivation to develop new skills and expand capabilities.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and site plans, including those for commercial and industrial clients, and highway projects.
- Primarily office-based work involving extensive computer use.
- Willingness to work overtime and non standard hours as needed.
- Occasional travel required, with the possibility of overnight stays.
EDUCATION:
- Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Math, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Completion of 60 college credit hours toward a technical degree.
- Three years of experience in DEATS Technician-level work.
- Completion of 6 credit hours in Algebra, Trigonometry, or Calculus, and 6 credit hours in Electrical, Electronics, or Physics coursework.
- Valid state driver’s license.
