Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Inspector with expertise in HVAC systems to join our team. The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and ensuring the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems meet compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, HVAC equipment, and construction practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of HVAC systems to ensure compliance with local building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Verify that HVAC installations are done in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and manufacturer instructions.
- Test HVAC systems, including airflow, temperature controls, refrigerant levels, and mechanical components, to ensure proper functionality and efficiency.
- Identify defects or potential issues in HVAC installations and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, recommendations, and any required re-inspections.
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to address any issues or discrepancies related to HVAC systems.
- Review design plans and specifications to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
- Stay updated on new HVAC technologies, systems, and code changes.
- Ensure that contractors and personnel are adhering to safety protocols during installation and maintenance of HVAC systems.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to verify that deficiencies have been corrected.
- Provide technical guidance and training to other inspectors or team members as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree or certification in HVAC or mechanical engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC inspections or related mechanical inspection roles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
- Strong understanding of mechanical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards related to HVAC installations (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and HVAC schematics.
- Proficient in using inspection tools and testing equipment for HVAC systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Certification as a Mechanical Inspector or HVAC Inspector (e.g., ICC, IAPMO) is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to job sites as required.
