We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented I&E Quality Assurance Inspector to join one of our biggest clients on a 1-year contract position with the possibility of extension!
You will play a critical role in ensuring that electrical construction projects meet the highest quality standards for their Facilities & Construction (F&C) and Maintenance & Construction (M&C) projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your expertise will directly contribute to key oil & gas projects, including tankless process facilities, gas lift well sites, cathodic protection projects, and winterization efforts.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all electrical installations meet IFC drawings, NEC codes, Electrical Construction Standards, API 500, manufacturer installation instructions, and area classification requirements.
- Examine issued-for-construction drawings for errors and ensure they are applied correctly in the field.
- Inspection Walks (CCW & PSSR): Attend 90% of CCW (Construction Completion Walk) inspections and create IWLs (Inspection Work Lists). Participate in PSSR (Pre-Startup Safety Review) walks post-construction to verify compliance.
- Conduct regular visits to project sites and vendors to ensure adherence to standards, codes, and manufacturer instructions. Validate QC sign-offs and verify corrections have been completed.
- Verify or witness critical electrical tests such as Megger, ground loop checks, and VLF Hi-Pot testing. Ensure contractor personnel have the necessary certifications and licenses.
- Collaborate with third-party contractor QC teams on punch list items, documentation, and project completion handovers.
- Review contractors' job books to ensure that all required testing and documentation are properly maintained and turned over at the completion of construction.
- Participate in weekly F&C and M&C project meetings to align on project priorities and progress.
Requirements
- Prior experience inspecting electrical systems, ideally within the oil & gas industry.
- A meticulous approach to reviewing construction drawings, performing inspections, and ensuring compliance with standards.
- Ability to work closely with facility and electrical engineering teams, as well as third-party contractor QC teams.
- Familiarity with NEC codes, Electrical Construction Standards, API 500, and relevant testing protocols (e.g., Megger, VLF Hi-Pot).
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a willingness to travel for factory acceptance testing and site inspections as needed.
