Summary:
Provides the Software QA testing support necessary to ensure that software and hardware products meet the acceptable quality standards as defined by the applicable contract, specifications, company standards, and common sense. Possesses the ability to work independently at going thru requirements, writing test cases, testing software and hardware products. Utilizes standard quality assurance methodologies and procedures to validate software and hardware integrated systems. Be able to review all requirements, functional specifications documentations, create relevant test documentation including test cases, test scripts, and test reports; perform functional verification, black box, and regression testing, using manual test scripts/cases. Execute manual software test cases against existing components and products; with the ability to clearly and precisely communicate issue incidents found in application.
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to do timely test planning, write quality test cases and execute test cases.
- Be able to implement comprehensive, effective, and quality testing plans.
- Be able to prepare software QA Test Reports for team reviews.
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle best practices, Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Perform ongoing integration and regression testing of the software and hardware products.
- Actively participate in group meetings and discussions. Meet release deadlines and other goals on time and on target.
- Ability to identify, categorize, and diagnose software issues in a logical, methodical, and time-efficient manner.
- Interfaces with software and hardware engineers to obtain any information necessary to prepare test scenarios and test scripts.
- Works with customer support team, if necessary, to identify any unusual test requirements to be included in test scenarios/scripts and to provide information regarding company test plans and schedules.
- Test company software products, preferably with approved test scenarios and test scripts, and reports progress to the software QA Manager.
- In the event of short lead times, may use knowledge of testing and company products in lieu of test scenarios/scripts.
- With the consent of the Software QA Manager, may halt testing when severe problems affect the accuracy of test results.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of ISO 9000-3 based company standards and requirements for the evaluation and testing of software products. Applies to company standards and procedures in the evaluation of software products.
- Assists in all Certification related Testing activities.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each essential duty competently. The requirements listed are representative of the minimum levels of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Experience with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Android software. Ability to perform requirement gathering, test planning, test creation, test execution, issue reporting and test result reporting. Execute basic SQL queries, possess excellent interpersonal skills, strong analytical problem-solving skills, work well in team environment, and excellent documentation skills. Strong logical thinking, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to execute multiple priorities, while maintaining high attention to detail.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's or Associate degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience. At least 1 year of experience in testing software preferred. Familiar with testing phases of the software and hardware development life cycle. Additional experience or familiarity with automation tools is nice to have.
