The trade association staff also supports ACEC Colorado Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit, which promotes education in the field of engineering and consulting engineering as a career of choice through its annual scholarship awards program, as well as key outreach initiatives focusing on underserved and underrepresented middle and high school student populations. ACEC Colorado is part of the ACEC National federation, which consists of 51 similar state and regional member organizations advocating for policies at that promote economic growth and improve the quality of life for every American.
Position Summary
We are hiring an onsite Manager of Committees, Forums & Coalitions will be responsible for the strategic direction, management, and operational support of ACEC Colorado’s more than 20 committees, forums, and coalitions. This role will serve as the primary staff liaison to all CFCs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, goals, and advocacy efforts. The manager will also help drive member engagement, foster collaboration, and facilitate the development of policy positions, best practices, and programming within the committees, forums, and coalitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Committee Management:
- Provide leadership and operational support to committees, ensuring their efforts align with the association’s strategic plan.
- Coordinate and distribute meeting agendas, materials and follow-up actions for each committee.
- Work closely with volunteer chairs (appointed by president) to ensure productive meetings and the achievement of committee objectives.
- Facilitate the creation and management of goals, timelines, and deliverables.
- Forum & Coalition Coordination:
- Serve as the staff liaison for association forums and coalitions, helping to cultivate an inclusive environment for collaboration and idea sharing.
- Support both formation and sunsetting of committees and coalitions in response to member needs or emerging issues.
- Guide the planning and execution of forum and coalition events, webinars, and conferences.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure that committees, forums and coalitions are providing value to members and contributing to the organization’s strategic plan.
- Membership Engagement & Communication:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for committee, forum and coalition members, fostering engagement and addressing inquiries or concerns.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to keep members informed about committee activities, upcoming events, and key issues.
- Actively recruit members to serve on committees, forums and coalitions, ensuring diverse representation.
- Advocacy Support:
- Work closely with the government affairs team to ensure that committee and coalition efforts align with the association's legislative and regulatory priorities.
- Serve as liaison between Government Affairs Committee/Executive Director and each relevant committee, forum, and coalition to gather input, serve on stakeholder meetings and/or testify on proposed and/or introduced state legislation as needed.
- Monitor relevant legislative and industry trends to inform the work of committees, forums and coalitions.
- Event Planning and Coordination:
- Manage logistics, including venue selection, invitations/communication/registration, AV needs, and speaker coordination for meetings specific to committees/forums and coalitions.
- Evaluate and report on the success of events and implement improvements as needed.
- Administrative and Operational Oversight:
- Maintain accurate records of committee, forum, and coalition membership, activities, and accomplishments in relation to organization’s strategic plan.
- Ensure compliance with the association’s bylaws, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with budget preparation and monitor spending related to committee, forum and coalition activities.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This position is located in Denver, CO
- This position reports directly to the Executive Director
- This position serves ACEC Colorado, ACEC Colorado Scholarship & Education Foundation, and Consulting Engineers Political Action Committee
- Regular work on computers
- Some local travel required
- Possibility of evenings and weekends required for conferences/special events
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, business administration, communication, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in association management, public policy, or a similar role managing committees, coalitions, or member-driven groups.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for building relationships and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams), and association management software.

Compensation
This position is exempt under the professional exemption.
Competitive pay range - $61,000-$75,000- commensurate with experience
