Summary:
Throughout the Boston Celtics’ storied history, they have long stood for equality and respect, including drafting the first Black player, hiring the first Black coach, and playing the first all-black starting five. The Celtics have won a record 18 NBA Championships spanning five (5) decades, including eight (8) in a row from 1959-1966, and winning their most recent in 2024. In addition, forty-one (41) former Celtics players, management, coaches, or staff have been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. In December 2002 the team returned to local ownership for the first time since 1963.
We are seeking a highly motivated teammate to help us build an engaging, entertaining atmosphere at all Celtics home games, events and appearances. This role will assist the Live Production & Entertainment Department in the execution of marketing promotions and activations. The Promotions Assistant must be energetic, reliable and committed to helping elevate the Boston Celtics fan experience. This is a part-time seasonal position reporting to the Director of Live Production & Entertainment.
Responsibilities:
- Promotions Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Working with the Live Production & Entertainment and Marketing groups on game-day marketing promotions and activations at TD Garden, the HUB on Causeway, Canal Street, and arena concourses and/or in upper and lower bowl seating areas.
- Assisting in the execution of activations, promotions and contests at home games, events and appearances, which may include selecting contestants, setting up props and equipment, distributing fan giveaways and other assigned duties.
- Flag running at home games and assisting with large banners during pre-game, halftime, and timeouts.
- Working at off-site events as assigned.
- Fan engagement activities such as greeting fans, conducting giveaways, and facilitating games.
- Required attendance at rehearsals and training sessions to learn game day promotions and flag running choreography, whenever scheduled.
- Carrying out other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Passionate about the Boston Celtics brand, fan engagement and the game of basketball.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with detailed focus.
- Must be able to work all Celtics home games, including preseason, regular season and playoffs.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays up to 29 hours per workweek.
- Highly organized, dependable self-starter.
- Able to set up equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 25lbs and run with large flags.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Must have an enthusiastic and energetic attitude.
- Game presentation and/or entertainment experience preferred.
