The ExeQfind Group is managing a search for an experienced architectural drafting professional for the role of Director of Architectural Drafting Services for our client’s commercial building materials business based in the Grand Rapids area of Michigan.
Reporting to a European-based President, the successfully hired Director will be responsible for the strategic leadership and effective execution of our client’s architectural and drafting services. The objective is to optimize their drafting outputs’ processes, technology, quality, and service levels, focusing on responsiveness to both their internal and external customers and maximizing profitable sales. The role requires leading and executing the vision and strategic plan to grow and elevate the drafting services department, ensuring that company policies and guidelines are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director, Architectural Drafting Services will be responsible for leading the development, performance, and success of our client’s architectural drafting and project services department. He / she will provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the team in support of organizational strategic objectives.
The successful hire will leverage relevant prior experience to effectively manage and execute Project Services for internal and external customers, with the goal of delivering an exceptional customer experience and maximizing profitable sales. He / she will develop and maintain Project Services systems and procedures including continuous improvement plans and digital technology upgrades and enhancements.
As a self-driven leader, he / she will ensure the accuracy and consistency of technical, product, and estimating related information throughout the department. Additional accountabilities include developing and executing strategic initiatives for growth in all Project Services aspects, providing overall leadership to departmental team members including hiring, training, coaching and development, as well as individual performance management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates for this role will have at least ten years of drafting and/or technical services experience and five years at the managerial level relevant to the construction of the building envelope.
Bachelors degree in Architecture, Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or similar technical background in drafting and related technical services.
Other Success Factors
- An ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience in contract documents.
- Must be highly proficient in engineering and drafting software programs (CAD and BIM experience) including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook).
- The successful hire will have the experience and professional maturity to form a charismatic managerial presence with an ability to establish and nurture customer and employee relationships based on competence, credibility, humility, and integrity.
