Marine Terminal Buyer

Job Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Marine Terminal Buyer responsible for procuring maintenance items critical to the efficient operation of our terminal. The Buyer will manage sourcing, vendor relationships, and inventory for all dry and liquid bulk maintenance-related materials, ensuring smooth terminal operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, inventory management, and logistics within an industrial or terminal setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement of all dry and liquid bulk maintenance items and materials required for terminal operations, including equipment parts, tools, and consumables.
- Identify and negotiate with vendors to secure competitive pricing, timely deliveries, and favorable terms for maintenance supplies.
- Maintain up-to-date purchasing records, supplier information, and contracts.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to anticipate material needs and ensure availability of critical supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels of maintenance items, conduct regular stock assessments, and place orders to avoid shortages.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and safety regulations.
- Prepare procurement reports, track cost-saving initiatives, and evaluate vendor performance regularly.
- Coordinate with the finance department to process purchase orders, invoices, and payments.
- Stay informed of market trends and alternative suppliers for maintenance materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of Buyer experience, ideally in a terminal, industrial, or maintenance-focused environment.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain vendor relationships.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
