Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator with a strong focus on networking, firewall management, and automation. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing and securing network infrastructure, automating routine tasks, and troubleshooting system issues. While we use Meraki firewalls and Fortinet load balancers, experience with similar technologies from other vendors is equally valuable. Proficiency in PowerShell scripting is highly desired, and familiarity with Linux, VMware, and Nutanix is a plus.
Location: Peachtree Corners, GA (Initial onsite, transitioning to remote - must reside in GA)
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-Day Operations:
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for system outages or performance issues, coordinating with relevant teams.
- Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor network and system resource usage, planning for capacity upgrades or optimizations.
- Implement and maintain security policies, focusing on access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Participate in change control board meetings to review and approve infrastructure changes.
- Generate regular performance and capacity reports for management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and propose workflow enhancements.
Infrastructure Planning & Automation:
- Lead automation initiatives to streamline operations, using PowerShell and other tools to reduce manual intervention.
- Design and implement secure network architectures, including DMZs and VLANs, to ensure data security and system integrity.
- Develop network security policies and procedures, including password policies, network segmentation, and incident response plans.
- Assist in planning and configuring disaster recovery sites for business continuity.
- Contribute to the design of scalable, high-availability solutions for critical systems.
- Explore strategies for integrating cloud services into existing infrastructure where beneficial.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of networking and firewall management, with experience using Meraki and Fortinet or similar vendor technologies.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting, particularly PowerShell, to automate system tasks.
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, and storage systems.
- Experience with system monitoring, log analysis, and network management tools.
- Knowledge of Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Understanding of virtualization (VMware, Nutanix) and hyper-converged infrastructure is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to lead technical troubleshooting efforts.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record per company policy.
