Position Summary
WFS is currently looking for a Special Education Teacher for our High School located in Whitehall, PA. The Teacher position is to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop to their full academic potential. To work in conjunction with behavioral health staff to provide a safe, therapeutic environment that meets the needs of all students.
This position follows an academic school year calendar (10 months with summers off however paid throughout the summer); Optional Extended School Year program in July; Monday-Friday schedule; Weekends and Holidays Off

•Plan, prepare and deliver instructional materials and engaging lesson plans that facilitate active learning
•Develop lesson plans in alignment with standards and established curriculum materials
•Deliver curriculum based, local, and state assessments to inform instructional design
•Use relevant technology to support learning and differentiate instruction.
•Work collaboratively with behavioral health staff to manage student behavior and implement School Wide Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports
•Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
•Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents/caregivers regarding student progress and classroom activities
•Participate in required meetings and professional development opportunities
•Obtain and maintain certification in crisis intervention techniques
•Execute physical management of the child/adolescent as needed and prescribed by approved crisis management system and the individual’s behavior support and crisis plans.
•Assist children in activities of daily living i.e. grooming, hygiene, toileting, feeding, etc., as needed
Qualification Summary
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited college or university
- Special Education preferred
- Special Education required for Monroeville location
Experience
- 1 year teaching experience at the level/specialty area under consideration is preferred
- 1 year experience working with special education population preferred
Licenses, Certifications & Clearances
- FBI, State Criminal and State Child Abuse Clearances, current within 1 year
- Appropriate Teaching Certification from Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Secondary Teachers must have certification from PDE in their content area
- Special Education certification as required by PDE
- Valid PA drivers’ license for position in Bridge Program
