With the development of Sloan’s growing product portfolio and continuous improvement initiatives, Sloan Valve Company is in need for a Supplier Quality Engineer I. This role will be based out of our Franklin Park, IL office and will report to our Global Supplier Quality Manager. The Supplier Quality Engineer I will ensure procured components meet customer requests and support the core business, while driving continuous improvement. Within this role, one will be expected to actively troubleshoot and participate in cross-functional improvement initiatives. There will be a need to expeditiously investigate production issues and support incoming inspection.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor & maintain quality systems, testing, & inspection activities designed to assure that products meet the print specifications.
- Optimize the inspection process in collaboration with inspection personnel.
- Initiate external corrective actions and follow up through to the closure to reduce the effect on production.
- Collaborate within activities in qualifying, developing, certifying, and assisting both internal and external suppliers and vendors.
- Utilize statistical data to identify and resolve problems.
- Lead problem solving teams that focus on problem prevention and variance reduction.
- Own and drive the facilitation and completion of PPAP’s with new or resourced products.
- Audit, modify, standardize best inspection practices.
- Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and specifics relating to the flaws.
- Perform regular quality control audits to ensure vendors continue to work incompliance with Sloan standards.
- Review and evaluate supplier quality data including scrap to identify process improvements opportunities within the supply chain.
- Collect, document, and present key performance indicators related to supplier performance to management.
- Investigate production issues with supplier products to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Direct work instructions for Inspectors, Technicians, and employees assigned to the quality function.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, field science, or a related field.
- Competency in statistical analysis (Excel or Minitab).
- Good written and oral skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SSGB – Six Sigma green belt.
- ISO experience.
- GD&T experience.
