What’s a typical day as a Human Resources Manager? You’ll be:
• Mitigating legal risks in the application of policies and the administration of any applicable collective bargaining agreements.
• Leading and mentoring others to ensure consistent application of all policies.
• Developing and implementing innovative solutions to resolve employee and/or labor relations issues affecting the plant.
• Effectively communicating and demonstrating Smithfield’s ROI guiding principles.
• Partnering with key stakeholders and performing analysis to develop and present solutions for strategic local initiatives.
• Facilitating workplace investigations or other inquiries arising out of needs expressed by employees and/or manifestation of policy infraction(s).
• Maintaining an understanding of business unit objectives and costing, partnering with departmental stakeholders to drive results through our people.
• Providing guidance on facility workforce planning, succession planning process, and talent development.
• Managing, developing, and collaborating with leaders identifying talent within hourly and salary staffing process.
• Maintaining the development and ongoing execution of the location’s DE&I initiatives and Affirmative Action Plan.
• Collaborating with people leaders and employees to improve working relationships and employee experience.
• Acting as a change agent leader to support corporate initiatives.
• Consulting with people leaders, providing guidance when appropriate.
• Serving as a subject matter expert in a variety of HR related programs.
• Actively participating in leadership meetings.
• Visiting the production floor to engage employees at all levels.
• Partnering with Centers of Excellence and other HR departments to translate communication from the organization into practice at the functional level.
• Ensuring employee retention at the location is maintained at an acceptable level.
• Utilizing data to influence business decisions.
• Influencing and driving positive people experience through development/career pathing.
• Overseeing employment complaints including executing thorough investigations.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
• Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• Have 5+ years of relevant experience in Human Resources.
• Have 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership.
• Have general knowledge of employment laws and practices.
• Have knowledge of Human Resource systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Possess specialized knowledge of HR systems, processes, and procedures.
• Have prior experience in a manufacturing and union environment (preferred).
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Are bilingual (preferred).
• Are willing to travel 5-10% of the time.
