Title: Assistant Director of Finance
Schedule: On-site, St Louis, MO
Salary: $95,000

Position Overview:
This role is responsible for professional accounting tasks, ensuring the proper management of the hotel’s financial activities, including expenses, revenue, assets, and liabilities, while safeguarding company assets in a centralized accounting setting. This position also includes leading and supervising the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance to assist with budget preparation, strategic planning, and goal setting.
- Contribute to or oversee month-end closing tasks, including reconciling income, preparing financial reports, reviewing trial balances, and generating financial statements for management review.
- Manage the daily accounting operations, assign tasks, and ensure completion of duties by the accounting team, while adhering to established accounting standards. Address and report any significant concerns to management.
- Enter general ledger data and journal entries as needed, ensuring daily transactions are recorded in accordance with accepted accounting practices. Oversee bookkeeping processes, including the review of subsidiary ledgers.
- Handle tax-related tasks such as reconciliations, payments, and filing state, city, and federal taxes on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis, while maintaining accurate records.
- Perform and assist with balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
- Participate in inventory processes and validation monthly, organize credit meetings, and provide meeting minutes as required.
- Review accounts payable and receivable entries, oversee billing processes, and ensure timely completion of necessary schedules. Other tasks may include managing deposits, issuing invoices, monitoring banking activities, and investigating discrepancies.
- Produce various reports, including daily, weekly, and monthly summaries, based on the reporting calendar.
- Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and handle special projects when necessary.
Planning & Strategy:
- Foster collaboration with other departments through clear communication, particularly with Sales, Catering, Reservations, and Front Office teams.
- Audit payroll processes.
- Oversee the Accounting department in the absence of the Director of Finance.
- Interact with external contacts:
- Guests: Address billing questions and disputes.
- Regulatory bodies: Ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations, and coordinate external audits.
- Train accounting team members and provide them with the tools they need to perform effectively.
- Undertake additional accounting duties such as payroll gratuity reconciliation, vendor payment audits, and overseeing income audits. Act as the backup for the Director of Finance in their absence.
- Support other related tasks as assigned.

Additional Information:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of supervisory experience in general ledger or financial reporting.
- Experience with HOAs and commercial real estate is beneficial.
- Proficiency in PC software, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside strong interpersonal and customer service capabilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
