Job Description Summary
In collaboration with the surgical team, and under the direction and supervision of a physician, assumes responsibility for the care and safety of the patients, instrumentation, supplies, and equipment during the surgical procedure. Additionally, assumes responsibility for ensuring effective communication with the circulator, charge nurse, the patient, the surgeon, anesthesia in other hospital departments. Responsible for integrity, safety, and efficiency of the sterile field. Assists in the care of sterile supplies and equipment. Provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation. Performs additional duties as directed by the Nurse Manager.
Responsible for compliance to hospital policy and appropriate laws and regulations, as well as those of regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Job Description
Under general supervision, the Certified Surgical Technologist III functions as a member of the operating room team to prepare sterile supplies and equipment used in the surgical procedures and perform appropriate room duties involved with direct patient care with adherence to established procedural guidelines at the advanced level. The Certified Surgical Technologist III demonstrates advanced knowledge and critical thinking skills required to provide care and/or service appropriate to the level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients' families.
Additional Job Description
Education:2 year Associates degree or 4 year Bachelor degree with specialized training in surgical processes, anatomy, instrumentation and/or equipment through an accredited school of Surgical technology or appropriate training program for surgical technology through the United States military or the United States Public Health System. Certification Required.
Experience: Two years of operating room technician experience required.
Licensures/Certifications: Current CPR certification; Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Required.
