Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will support our accounting operations and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance of the general ledger, including posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process accounts payable invoices and payments, and assist in accounts receivable functions such as invoicing and collections.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management review. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Budget Support: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor budget variances and provide analysis to help management understand financial performance.
- Audit Preparation: Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules and providing documentation as requested by auditors.
- Tax Compliance: Assist in gathering information for tax filings and provide support during tax audits.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis as needed, such as profitability analysis, cost analysis, and variance analysis.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting roles, preferably in a corporate environment or public accounting firm.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with QuickBooks or SAP is a plus).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA candidate or CPA certification.
- Experience with financial statement analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of tax principles and compliance.
- Experience with ERP systems or other accounting software.
