Our client is looking for an experienced Lead Character Artist that can be a leading contributor within an art production pipeline. This role supports the visual development of our game’s characters through modeling, rigging, and integration. You will report to the Studio Art Director working closely with the Engineering and Design teams to ensure consistent visual quality that helps build a fantastical world for the players.
Requirements:
- High proficiency of a major 3D software (Maya or Blender), Z-Brush, Substance Designer / Painter and Photoshop
- Solid high and low poly modeling skills, as well as demonstrable skill with stylized texture and shader creation within a PBR pipeline
- Experience working in Unity is a must
- 5+ years in the game industry with shipped titles
- Ability to bring characters to life that expands on art and design requirements
- Ability to rig and skin unique character designs is a must
- Animation experience is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end creation of AAA character designs that employ a stylized look
- Work closely with the Studio Art Director to ensure the visual target is always exceeded and stylistically consistent
- Comfortable conceptualizing characters when needed
- Actively participate in technical and aesthetic problem solving discussions that result in meaningful solutions
- Coordinate with tools and technology teams to develop pipelines and solutions for creating the best characters possible
- Create and maintain a transparent and reliable schedule coordinated with team leads
