Job Title: Development Director - Utility Solar Projects (Kentucky Focus)
Location: Remote (must have project development experience in Kentucky)
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Development Director to lead greenfield utility-scale solar projects in Kentucky. While direct solar development experience is not required, candidates must have a strong background in utility development, such as T&D (Transmission & Distribution), oil and gas, or other large-scale infrastructure projects. This role is remote, but candidates must have significant experience developing projects in Kentucky from the ground up through to PPA handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the greenfield development of utility-scale solar projects from concept to PP handover, focusing on projects within Kentucky.
- Manage all aspects of project development, including land acquisition, permitting, interconnection, and regulatory approvals.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams including engineers, landowners, government agencies, and legal professionals.
- Oversee budgeting, timelines, and project milestones to ensure projects stay on track and within scope.
- Identify and mitigate project risks throughout the development lifecycle.
- Work closely with stakeholders to secure necessary approvals and support for the successful execution of projects.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts with relevant parties including landowners, utility companies, and regulatory bodies.
- Prepare and present detailed project updates to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in large-scale project development, with a strong preference for candidates with utility, T&D, or oil and gas project backgrounds.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and completing projects in Kentucky is required.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory, permitting, and land acquisition processes specific to Kentucky.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to oversee complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple projects
