COMMERCIAL CONTRACTS ATTORNEY
Overview: Our client’s In-House Legal Team is looking for a collaborative, talented, self-motivated, and experienced commercial contracts lawyer. This is a full time/on-site role in Birmingham, Michigan. This is a long term indefinite role with permanent potential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review, draft and advise internal business and management team on a wide range of agreements including: residential and commercial agreements such as master services agreements, amendments to existing customer agreements, RFPs, leases, non-disclosure agreements, subcontractor agreements, vendor agreements (particularly with respect to construction), remediation, general services contracts.
- Establish rapport and build positive trusted working relationships with business team, management and coworkers at all levels.
- Problem-solve creatively and resourcefully with solution-oriented approach.
- Provide interpretation of terms and conditions and make practical and pragmatic recommendations based on risk analysis.
- Collaborate with various groups to understand and ensure consistency with the company’s business, financial and risk management objectives.
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of the company in order to ensure compliance.
Education
Experience
- Qualified lawyer licensed to practice in United States with 3 years' experience reviewing and/or handling contractual matters. Prefer candidates with time at mid-to-large sized law firm and in house.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe, AIA and other contracts-based programs.
Certifications
- Licensed to practice law and member in good standing of State Bar of state in which license is held.

- Strong business acumen with ability to understand the company’s business objectives and anticipate the nature and magnitude of issues that could arise in various settings.

- Conscientious, detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys taking the initiative to drive work both independently yet collaboratively.
- Flexible with diverse work assignments and the ability to manage shifting priorities.
- Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality.
- Strong writing skills and an ability to clearly present data both in writing and verbally.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely articulate legal concepts to non-lawyers.
- Highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
- This is an in-office position
- Given the nature of our client’s business, the right candidate needs flexibility to work late and on weekends in other markets to support teams throughout the US with matters that arise in disaster recovery and construction context.
Hourly rate $75.
