HWI has a fantastic opportunity to lead the maintenance teams in our Missouri plants. This is a challenging role in which you will manage all plant maintenance, including our maintenance, electrical, and housekeeping teams for three plants.
Summary
The Regional Maintenance Department Manager directs and coordinates all aspects of facility maintenance activity including Preventative and Predictive Maintenance (PPM) to assure product quality and equipment availability at HWI’s 3 Missouri production plants. The Regional Maintenance Department Manager establishes and fosters an employee atmosphere of preventive rather than reactive maintenance and is responsible for managing the economical use of manpower and materials to meet budgetary targets. The Regional Maintenance Department Manager will maintain effective housekeeping standards by monitoring historical data via MP2/CMMS to ensure quality service. This role will be based at our Vandalia location.
Included in key responsibilities is to identify gaps in development of skilled trades such as electrical, electrical controls, general maintenance and skilled tradesmen. This individual should have the ability to develop tactical plans to close key resource gaps in the region’s maintenance skill sets.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring and prioritizing work orders, improving PM work orders, and developing historical PPM Data via CMMS system for HarbisonWalker International’s 3 Missouri production plants; implementing a standard of maintenance excellence across all three plants maintenance departments
- Directing and coordinating maintenance activity, including direct supervision of salaried and hourly workforce and seeking opportunities to share talent and common practices across all of HarbisonWalker Internationals production plants
- Planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities for HarbisonWalker International’s 3 Missouri production plants
- Evaluating and directing staff to better improve performance; fostering atmosphere of preventive rather than reactive maintenance
- Researching purchases, parts, equipment, and supplies to facilitate prompt repairs of equipment; optimizing opportunities to minimize pricing and standardizing purchasing across all plants
- Working with vendors and contractors to enhance the PPM process including spare parts inventory and predictive maintenance tools
Requirements
Education / Skills / Knowledge
- Requires high school diploma, including training in Preventive / Predictive Maintenance.
- Prefers Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable degree
- Requires advanced training in Maintenance Management, Supervision or PPM / CMMS.
- Requires knowledge of the entire manufacturing process.
- Requires computer operation skills, preferably MS Word and Excel.
- 5 – 10 years plant maintenance and supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing operation. Experience needs to include managing multiple functional groups within the skilled trades along with contractors. Individual should have some level of experience in heavy manufacturing processes that utilize automation to be more productive.

Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of time talking or hearing; 1/3 to 2/3 of time standing, walking and / or sitting; and less than 1/3 of time using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing/balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling; and/or tasting/smelling.
- Lifting: Requires lifting sometimes in excess of 100 pounds less than 1/3 of time.
- Vision: Requires accurate close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Environment: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time working near moving mechanical parts and less than 1/3 of time exposed to fumes or airborne particles, working with explosives, in an office setting, working in high, precarious places, exposed to outdoor weather, extreme heat, vibration, and/or the risk of electrical shock.
- Noise: Requires exposure to moderate noise.
