Job Summary
Financial Management
3 Essential Functions: Manages, Supervises, Communicates
Duties
1) Accurately maintain all financial records of the congregation including: proper credit to a donor’s giving statement; banking, and savings and investment accounts of the congregation
2) Supervise financial staff for the counting and posting of all gifts, payment of fees, and other income to the congregation; including but not limited to: payroll; accounts payable; and gifts to Mission and Outreach partners
3) Stay abreast of changing technology beneficial to the church’s ministry
4) Ensure all proper internal controls are maintained
5) Participate in the assembly of the annual budget of RLC
6) Provide budget planning and oversight for the RLC legacy gift program
7) Develop and oversee implementation of financial policies, procedures and reporting
8) Work with Endowment Committee to plan, develop, and implement events intended to engage the congregation in understanding and supporting the church endowment fund
9) Work with Senior Pastor and Communications Manager at developing an annual campaign, including targeted letters, giving cards, thank you letters, and other stewardship pieces

Congregational Data

Duties
1) Provide accurate quarterly and year-end giving statements to members and friends of RLC
2) Generate monthly financial reports to the Finance Committee, Executive Committee and Church Council including budget reconciliation reports.
3) Produce quarterly reports to staff and committee leaders detailing the revenue, expenses, and financial position of their ministry accounts
4) Provide a comprehensive year-end finance report as the official record of financial actions and financial position
5) Work with Endowment Committee to compile and analyze giving trends among members and friends of RLC in order to most effectively approach giving requests

Team Participant

Duties
1) Communicate with the Senior Pastor weekly
2) Attend the following meetings:
a) Council (monthly)
b) Finance Committee (monthly)
c) Stewardship Project Team (when needed)
d) Other committees and task forces as assigned by the Senior Pastor
e) Work with church volunteers and ministry leaders in planning financial goals and problem solving
f) Direct communication with Church Administrator with budgeting, salary and other financial matters
g) Coordinate special projects at the request of the Senior Pastor or Executive Council

Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts (preferably with a finance / business emphasis)
Experience with working in a multiple staff environment
Experience with coaching or supervising others at place of employment or volunteer
organization
Physical requirements and working conditions
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and small carry parcels, packages and other items, to walk short distances, to engage in substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
