We are recruiting a Microencapsulation Scientist to join the Scentisphere team, sitting onsite in Carmel, NY. The primary responsibilities of the Microencapsulation Scientist include the:
- formulation and process development/testing of microencapsulated products.
- development of technical solutions and recommendations for process improvements.
- effective communication with production, QC and project managers with relation to constant safety awareness.
- demonstrated willingness and ability to continuously improve, learn, expand capabilities and develop innovative scent marketing products.
Responsibilities:
- Formulation, process development and continuous improvement of microencapsulated products and coatings containing microencapsulation.
- Design test methods and evaluate microencapsulated products for stability, particle size, and morphology.
- Operate and maintain microencapsulation laboratory and production equipment and recommend new manufacturing techniques.
- Ensure lab operations are performed according to safety requirements.
- Gain experience in spray drying, complex coacervation, polymerization and the coatings used in application.
- Document research in project notebooks, prepare reports, and contribute to lab projects.
- Contribute to improvement and optimization of chemical processes.
- Improve operation efficiency to include writing/revising procedures and protocols.
- Conduct operations under application quality requirements according to ISO 9001-2015.
Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelors degree in Chemistry or Materials Science.
- 3-4 years: Experience in chemistry lab with microencapsulation techniques such as complex coacervation, polymerization, spray drying and resin/emulsion technology.
- Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Demonstrate technical / scientific leadership skills and a passion for problem solving.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work productively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Understanding of printings, inks and coating
- Experience microencapsulating fragrance oils and ingredients.
