The Assistant Director, Careers in Computer Science & Technology will scale up programming and resources designed to prepare undergraduate students for successful careers in the technology industry, computer science, data analytics, and related fields. In addition, this team member will lead efforts to expand the University’s employer network, with a particular focus on placing students in jobs and internships in tech.
The Assistant Director will engage with partners in regional tech hubs to build and strengthen relationships with alumni, employers, and other stakeholders in the area. This team member will also provide one-on-one advising for students, organize and execute impactful career education programs, track and report key data on student outcomes, and collaborate with campus partners as needed.
This position requires a passion for empowering students for career success, strategic thinking skills, strong relationship and program management skills, and ideally a background working in higher education, talent development, or in a partnerships-focused role. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual contributor with a track record of success in complex, fast-paced environments.
This position is based at the University of Chicago's campus in Hyde Park.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree
· Attuned to the technical recruitment process for a variety of computer science roles, including software engineering, data science, product management, and UI/UX design
· Knowledge of tools and services including online employment sites, CRM systems and other resources for job seekers
Preferred Experience:
· Prior experience working in talent development or human resources in the tech industry or supporting technical roles
· Background working with college-aged students, recent college graduates, and or early career professionals
