Schreiner University, an independent University affiliated by choice with Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA), and a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), located in Kerrville, Texas, is pleased to announce its search for a Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA). Reporting to the President of Schreiner University and serving on the President’s Cabinet, the Provost and Vice President will provide innovative and strategic vision and leadership for all aspects of Schreiner University’s academic affairs division, including faculty, academic programs, and academic support. The Provost and VPAA will lead a team of professional employees including the Registrar’s office, Center for Advising and Career Development, Center for Teaching and Learning, Learning Support Services, Logan Library, Academic Support, Academic Division Directors, and Federal Grants.
The Provost and VPAA has oversight of academic planning and experiential learning, including new degree and certificate programs on the undergraduate and graduate levels; academic policies and procedures; curricular reviews, approvals of new programs, and modifications to existing programs; academic catalogs and calendars; and partnerships and agreements with other institutions.
As a senior officer of a growing and ambitious University, the Provost and VPAA will shape the program portfolio across all academic levels, recruit and cultivate top talent, be comfortable and rigorous exploring new educational opportunities, and manage initiatives to completion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Ensure excellence in all academic programs and activities consistent with Schreiner University’s mission and values
· Provide oversight for the scheduling of academic courses and calendars
· Facilitate resolution on issues related to student academic performance and grievances
· Oversee academic program reviews and the quality improvement process
· Develop faculty across the arc of their professional careers
· Develop and implement academic policies in collaboration with faculty governance committees
· Oversee Academic Affairs events including Convocation, Honors and Awards Days and Commencement
· Work closely with the President and to accomplish the University’s strategic priorities.
The successful candidates will have an earned doctorate degree with a distinguished record of teaching and scholarship that exhibit a commitment to academic excellence; experience in higher education administration; and possess superior leadership, organizational, planning and management skills. The next Provost and VPAA at Schreiner University will exhibit outstanding written and oral communication skills, professional and ethical standards of the highest caliber, sound judgement and a commitment to promoting the success of all students.
