Responsibilities:
- The Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist/Licensed Practice Nurse (CPFT/LPN) performs a variety of pulmonary diagnostic tests including, but not limited to, pulmonary function, oximetry, FENO testing, home sleep studies, and administration of DME.
- The CPFT/LPN performs routine quality control testing on the pulmonary function equipment and maintains patients' files. The CPFT/LPN works independently in the Pulmonary Function laboratory.
- AHA-BLS certification is required however, certification is not a qualifying factor to obtain the position.
- The CPFT/LPN will support patient care in the capacity of LPN as needed.
Education/Skills Required:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Licensed Practice Nurse in New York State.
- Registered or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist preferred.
- LPN candidates currently credentialed by NBRC (National Board of Respiratory Care) as a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist or those currently eligible for credentialing through NBRC will be considered first.
- LPN's not currently NBRC eligible, must have or be willing to complete 62 credit hours required for credentialing within 1year of hire from a college or university accredited by its regional association or its equivalent, including college credit level courses in biology, chemistry, and mathematics.
- AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal.
- Candidates with previous Medical Office, Pulmonary Function Testing and DME experience will be considered first.
- As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
