HomePlate Youth Services, a nonprofit leader in the field of providing services for youth experiencing housing instability in Washington County, is looking for a dynamic new member to join our leadership team. HomePlate started in 2005 with $3,000 and a vision of helping youth in houseless and unstably housed situations find stability. Currently, Beaverton has the highest rate of student homelessness in the state of Oregon. With a budget of $3,000,000 and 26 staff, we operate youth drop-in, street outreach, employment, education, and housing navigation services. HomePlate successfully connects 900+ at-risk youth with community members each year and together they work towards meeting youth-identified education, housing, employment, medical, dental and other goals.

Overview
The overall responsibility of the Director of Operations & Finance is to manage the organization's internal systems, central administration, external HR and IT Services contractors, financial processes, and facilities, ensuring organizational stability and efficiency in service of its mission.
Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:
Operations
- Provide oversight and, as needed, perform general business administration, including local, state, and federal compliance.
- Oversee facility management, including both rented and owned facilities.
- Champion the development, management, and evolution of Policies & Procedures.
- Manage employee benefits, ensuring plans are beneficial to staff and administered appropriately.
- Manage organization insurance, including plan evaluation, negotiation, and claims.
- Manage third-party IT Services Provider, and in partnership ensure all tech systems are functioning in service of staff.
Finance
- Partner with the Executive Director and Fractional CFO to ensure the financial health of the organization. Serve as a key thought leader in financial decision making.
- Lead the annual budgeting process in partnership with a Fractional CFO. Champion and support budgeting with other organization leaders.
- Monitor financial systems and processes; support the Controller in ensuring effective financial administration.
- Serve as advocate within the organization for financial best practices, process development, and financial education of staff.
- Partner with Program and Development teams on grant evaluation, submissions, and reporting for government and private grants. Provides technical assistance regarding grant compliance.
- Provide reports and presentations in support of the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee.
Organizational Leadership
- Serve as a strategist and collaborator on organization-wide projects as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, which operates as an organization-wide strategic team covering budget, staff, administration, culture, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrate competency and commitment to ongoing equity and anti-racist work both personally and professionally. Operationalize equity and anti-racism practices.
- Supervise and mentor growth of three or more direct reports, including both finance and operations staff.
Human Resources
- Manage third-party HR support providers.
- Manage both onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Serve as primary administrator of HomePlate’s Employee Management System.
- Serve as the internal point person for identifying, receiving, and mediating HR issues and connect staff to contracted services as needed.
- Evaluate and ensure HomePlate’s employee benefits are appropriate for the organization and support staff to the highest degree possible.
- Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and manage opportunities for staff training, development, and career growth at an organizational level.
Preference for a combination of experiences from the following:
- Nonprofit financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and general accounting.
- Nonprofit operations leadership, including facility management, business administration, and organizational leadership.
- HR leadership including payroll management and employee benefits administration.
- Onboarding and maintaining a suite of tools and systems.
- Managing cross-functional teams.
- Experience working for an organization that centers equity in decision making and employs anti-racist tactics and practices.
