Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Senior Traffic Engineer at Avant Engineering Group in Winter Park, FL. Our ideal candidate will have experience working on FDOT roadway/highway projects and is looking to grow their career. The Senior Traffic Engineer will be responsible for overseeing traffic analysis, traffic operations design, traffic studies, and road safety evaluations. We are seeking a candidate with an excellent ability to effectively supervise and work with cross-discipline teams, the ability to prioritize and deliver results in a constantly changing environment. This opportunity will involve working with Project Managers to produce any combination of signing and pavement marking, signalization, lighting, ITS and/or traffic study documentation and construction plans.
Day to day activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Leads the execution of standalone traffic engineering projects, or traffic engineering tasks as part of larger projects.
- Provides day-to-day direct mentoring and guidance to junior engineers in the execution of their tasks.
- Performs or oversees—with little supervision—all aspects of traffic design such as signing and pavement marking, signalization, lighting, ITS and/or traffic study documentation and plans
- Preparation of final design plans, specifications and studies associated with traffic analysis
- Perform field duties outside of the office in support of project data collection
- Assist in marketing and business development efforts in addition to attending client meetings
- Assists with the training and development of junior engineers and designers
- Work with Senior Engineers/Project Managers in a variety of project duties
- Requires little to no technical supervision by Senior staff
Qualifications
- 15-20 years of Progress Experience in Traffic Design
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering (FL)
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Traffic Analysis and Transportation Planning skills
- Traffic Studies and Road Safety expertise
- Traffic Operations Design Experience (Experience with traffic signal timing and intelligent transportation systems is a plus)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in transportation engineering and FDOT software such as OpenRoads, Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, and, SimTraffic.
- Familiar with Traffic Design Manuals such as MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, and FDOT Design Manuals.
