OVERVIEW:
Ligon Hydraulics is looking to hire a Safety and Environmental Coordinator to play a leadership role in achieving outstanding safety culture and safety performance at Ligon Hydraulics as part of the company’s vision of being the leading cylinder manufacturer in North America. JOB SUMMARY:
· Coordinate development of annual strategic safety and environmental objectives for Ligon Hydraulics to achieve continuous improvement in performance and cost.
· Provide leadership and coordinate achieving annual safety and environmental objectives at all plants to achieve annual improvement in performance.
· Coordinate reduction in annual workmen’s compensation costs.
· Manage safety program at residing plant to maintain and effective safety program and achieve continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Safety culture/programs:
Coordinate establishing effective safety culture and programs at Ligon Hydraulics and all plants including safety first culture, team engagement, safety committee, and effective continuous improvement programs.
2. Safety incidents:
Establish a continuous improvement program to achieve month over month reduction in safety hazards and safety incidents
3. Reporting:
Coordinate monthly reporting and sharing of safety performance metrics including recordables, first aid, safety hazards and near misses.
Provide quarterly reports to management with progress to annual business plan and safety objectives.
4. Corrective actions:
Ensure that valid root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed for all safety incidents. Make sure all plants assess risk for each corrective action and implement appropriate corrective action at their respective plant.
5. Compliance:
Make sure all plants are aware of all safety and environmental regulations and are in compliance with all regulations.
6. Workmen’s Compensation:
Establish annual workmen’s compensation reduction program. Determine and prioritize opportunities for reduction of workmen’s compensation. Develop and successfully implement a plan to achieve reduced workmen’s compensation cost.
7. Audits
Complete annual safety and environmental audits at all plants to verify compliance to regulations and all plants are following best practices.
8. Training:
Provide required training to safety coordinators to allow them to manage an effective safety program.
9. Annual Business Plan:
Prepare required information for Ligon Hydraulics annual business plan

- The position location will be at one of the Ligon Hydraulics plants.

EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial engineering or related field of study.
· Minimum 10 years of experience in safety and/or environmental in manufacturing environment driving annual performance improvement.
· Hands on experience in driving improved safety culture and performance.
· Knowledge of OSHA training, reporting and compliance requirements.
